Arthur J. Allen was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and now resides in Peoria, Illinois, his “retirement home.”
He is a World War II Air Force Veteran and a graduate of West Milwaukee High School; Milwaukee State Teachers College (B.S. Ed); and Marquette University (M. Ed).
Art served youth as a high school teacher and coach, and as a junior college coach and athletic director. He also served as Executive Director with the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, for 35 years.
He has been a member of the Peoria Poetry Club for over 20 years; Past President of Peoria Poetry Club; President of the Illinois Art League; President of Kiwanis London House; and member of William D. Boyce Advisory Boy Scout Board.
Art has published 5 chapbooks: Wisconsin Moments, Family Moments,
Christmas Moments, Patriotic Moments, and Moments with Abraham Lincoln. His poems also appear in Diamond Fields, the Peoria Poetry Club’s 65th Anniversary Anthology (2006), as well as other Club publications.
